OUR BACKGROUND

We, The Society of Black Mental Health Professionals, are a group of like-minded professionals who all share the passion of educating others and creating awareness about mental health. The association started in April 2019, with a group of local African American licensed, as well as non-licensed Mental Health Counselors, Social Workers and case mangers who wanted to not only support each other, but provide support to our community. Our goal is to provide mental health resources, training, group counseling, and psychoeducation which will hopefully end the stigma related to mental illness in our community.
